Dr Jane Goodall believes that in order to save the great apes and other incredible species, communities should be inspired and empowered to live in balance with wildlife and the natural environment. Protecting animals also means protecting human communities and the ecosystems they both rely on. The Jane Goodall Institute Australia (JGIA) and RAW Africa Eco-Tours offer you a life-enriching travel experiences, to see firsthand the dedicated work of the Jane Goodall Institute.

From the magnificent Nile river in the north to the towering Rwenzori mountains in the west, mountains of the west, Uganda is rich in conservation and cultural experiences and unforgettable wildlife encounters. The primary focus for JGIA in Uganda is the Girls Empowerment Program, which aims to increase girls access to education, reproductive health and life skills. This in turn increases opportunities for income generation that does not impact chimpanzees and their habitat.

When Dr Jane Goodall first arrived in Tanzania in 1960, she never imagined that she would spend the next 30 consecutive years of her life in one of the most remote parts of this incredible country. There’s something about Tanzania that drew Dr Jane Goodall to dedicate her life to its incredible wildlife.
In Tanzania the primary focus for JGIA is the protection of the forest corridor north of Gombe National Park. Habitat fragmentation leads to isolated populations, inbreeding and increased disease susceptibility. The proceeds from this tour will assist JGIA to secure the corridor by constructing ranger outposts, training and equipping local rangers.

Chimpanzees of Nyungwe The Republic of Rwanda is a landlocked country in the Great Rift Valley. Highly elevated, with a geography dominated by mountains, this is an environment that supports chimpanzee, mountain gorilla and a variety of other primate species.
In Rwanda the primary focus for JGIA is to support the management of this unique forest ecosystem. This management system requires the rangers to be able to gather data on the health status and behaviour of the chimpanzees as well as habitat quality.
